Assured Systems is proud to receive the award for ‘Science and Technology’ in Business at this year’s Sentinel Business Awards.
The UK Assured team were in full force at the King’s Hall for the event. Assured was shortlisted with 2 other companies on the night but strove to win the award. James Priest, CEO, was delighted with the result, “Tonight we were pitched against over 500 applicants for 13 categories in business awards relevant to a particular sector. Out of those candidates we were shortlisted for the Science and Technology Award alongside two others. Accolade enough? Absolutely. Would a runners up medal and a bottle of fizz have been OK? Absolutely not. The team we have assembled is incredible and one which I’m proud has been recognised globally – and not for the first time either.”
The Sentinel is a newspaper covering Staffordshire and South Cheshire. For 23 years, The Sentinel has been highlighting, recognising and rewarding excellence through what is now one of the region’s most significant business awards schemes.
The ‘Science and Technology in Business Award’ was judged by a 13-strong panel comprising of Directors, CEOs and Partners from of a breadth of business sectors. The remit was to show how the appliance of science and technology has driven success. The judges looked for outstanding companies who demonstrated that innovative use of science and technology has helped to improve or grow their business, increase profits, recruit additional employees or benefit the wider community or environment.
Amongst other successful projects Assured is involved with, 2018 sees the Stone based company working on:
Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND) with Keele University
Sustainability is a priority at Keele University. In order to achieve this, the University is working with Assured Systems, other businesses as well as graduates and academics, to create Europe’s first ‘at scale’ Smart Energy Network Demonstrator (SEND) – a living laboratory where new energy-efficient technologies can be researched, developed and tested in a real-world environment.
Assured Systems is currently in the process of recruiting a graduate in collaboration with Keele University for a PhD qualifying position at Assured. The PhD student will help to develop the programming and technology, supporting areas of the Keele SEND project.
The SEND programme is part-funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) as part of the England 2014 to 2020 European Structural and Investment Funds (ESIF) Growth Programme.
Autonomous Driving
Our GPU computers supply the brains behind the self-driving car revolution. Autonomous driving is slowly becoming a reality and Assured Systems is supporting advanced and intelligent technologies with GPU computers, specifically designed for harsh environments like vehicles. As a company we are placing extra effort into industrial-grade GPU systems to accelerate the realisation of advanced, intelligent and pioneering technologies.
Providing IoT (Internet of Things) technology to the renewable energy sector in the US.
Working with manufacturers in the Far-East, Assured Systems is adapting existing hardware to solve communication problems in home solar energy systems, making the application to homes more efficient and performance more measurable through the collation and transmittance of data. As a direct result of this project, our footprint and manufacturing in our Greenville, South Carolina base is growing exponentially.
“Science and technology drives Assured Systems. What we demonstrate is how we are entering the forefront of new technologies for the future and how these technologies are the focus for Assured’s growth strategy,” Says Stuart Martin, CCO, “We are proud of our achievements thus far and are proud to win this award.”
